Overview

Buying a used vehicle is easier to feel good about when someone who works on cars has looked it over. A pre-purchase inspection gives you information before you commit.

We can inspect the vehicle where it is located, with the seller’s permission, and tell you what we see. An inspection is an assessment of condition on the day we look. It is not a guarantee about the future, and it is not a state inspection.

Common symptoms

These are signs worth getting checked. They are not a diagnosis, and the same symptom can have different causes.

  • You are considering a private-party or dealer used-vehicle purchase
  • The seller is out of town or you are buying along the I-95 corridor
  • You want to understand upcoming maintenance before agreeing on a price
  • The vehicle has visible leaks, noises, or warning lights the seller has explained away

What assessment and repair may involve

  • Visual inspection of the engine bay, fluids, belts, hoses, and visible leaks
  • Checking for stored trouble codes and warning-light behavior where applicable
  • Looking over the visible suspension, brake, and tire condition
  • A summary of what we found and what you may want to ask the seller

Mobile visit or private facility?

Whether the work can be done at your location depends on the vehicle, the parts involved, the equipment needed, and whether the spot is level, safe, and permitted. Some work needs our private service facility, which is available by appointment only.

Often suited to mobile service

  • Inspection at the seller’s location when it can be arranged and is safe
  • Condition notes and a conversation about what we found

May need the facility

  • A thorough underbody inspection that is difficult without a lift, by appointment
  • Follow-up repairs if you decide to buy

About the private service facility

What to have ready

  • Year, make, model, and asking price if you want to discuss it
  • The seller’s location and whether they are okay with an inspection
  • Any concerns you already have
  • A listing or VIN, if available

How requesting service works

  1. Call us or send a request. Share the vehicle, the symptoms, and where it is.
  2. We follow up. We confirm coverage, ask follow-up questions, and discuss whether a mobile visit or the facility fits.
  3. You decide. Service is scheduled only after we agree on a plan with you.

Submitting a request asks us to contact you about service. It does not confirm an appointment or dispatch. Contact us to confirm service coverage and availability.

Frequently asked questions

Can you guarantee the vehicle will not have problems?

No. An inspection describes condition at the time we look. It cannot predict future failures.

Will you inspect a vehicle at a dealership?

Possibly, if the seller allows it and the location is workable. Contact us with the details and we can talk through it.

Vehicle trouble? Call first.

Tell us what is happening and where the vehicle is. We will talk through whether a mobile visit or the appointment-only facility makes sense.

Calls accepted 8 a.m.–7 p.m. daily (Eastern time). English & Spanish assistance available.
